Dear Backers…We Need Your Help in Supporting Our Videographer’s Fight Against Cancer

Hello everyone. This update is not related to our campaign. Instead, it is a call to action from us in hopes that you might be willing to help support our videographer, Ed, in his difficult fight against cancer.
We truly believe that this platform is not just for us to raise some arbitrary amount of funding, but it is also about the people. We may all come from different backgrounds or have different roles, whether it be a founder, a videographer, or one of our 4218 backers...we are all here because we care about this project. And we hope that through following our journey, you also came to care about individuals like Ed, the silent but indispensable contributor in making all of this happen.
Some of you may know Ed Rollo as our videographer who produced this campaign’s promo video. If you don’t, let us tell you about our experience working with him. It was 10 days before the ProGrip launch, and our original videographer had to leave this project suddenly due to personal reasons. Stranded and left with a week to produce the video for the campaign launch, we found Ed by chance and he immediately stepped up and took over the whole project.
At first we were really worried that Ed may not be able to handle the extremely tight filming schedule (of just 4 days!!) that involved various locations including shooting on a boat as well as hikes in the geological parks. Throughout the whole shoot, Ed was professional, attentive to details, and always held a positive attitude no matter how difficult the shoot became. We literally got rained on and dried off 2-3 times in just one day of filming in these locations, and Ed trooper-ed on without any hesitation. After a week’s worth of constant shooting and editing, our whole team was drained but we ended up with this amazing promo video to present to you guys. And all of this would not be possible without Ed’s help, his dedication and professionalism towards every detail of this project.
The day of the launch, Ed alerted our team that he was in the hospital. We later learned that he was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer and the doctors ordered him to get an operation immediately. He didn’t want to burden us and only told us after we had launched our campaign. We were all shocked and worried for his well-being, and we can’t help but to feel extremely guilty for putting him through such a tough shoot. Luckily, Ed’s surgery went well and he was in steady recovery post-op. Little did we know, this was just the beginning of his fight.
We are sad to let you all know that during one of his regular checkups this week, the doctors found a GIST (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour), in addition to his pre-existing medical condition. This means the next step, according to the doctors, is for them to surgically remove the tumour. We are all heartbroken to hear that Ed has been faced with yet another battle, and we feel that it is time for us at ShiftCam to step up and support him in his fight against cancer the best we can.
As an Australian foreign national living in Hong Kong for the past 7 years, Ed has no access to government funded treatments and unfortunately was not covered by any medical insurance. He has paid for his last operation and treatments on his own. With this new diagnosis and upcoming surgery ahead, the medical fees have become overwhelming for Ed and his family. We at ShiftCam want to reach out to all of our backers here in hopes that some of you may be able to help Ed. We hope that by telling Ed’s story, you will come to admire him the way we do. He is someone that truly pours his heart into everything that he does, and he remains positive despite everything that he is going through.
We hope that you, our backer, as a member of this community that we have built together over the last few months, can help us in making sure that no one is left behind. We truly appreciate you reading Ed’s story and we are grateful for your support to one of our own.
No amount is too small and our team and Ed’s family will be very thankful for any donations in supporting Ed’s fight. What to Expect in the Next Few Months?

In the coming 2 weeks, we will be confirming and following up with pledged payments on Kickstarter. You will be notified in case there is missing or incorrect payment information.
Post Campaign Survey, Add-Ons,andShipping Charges
After the next 2 weeks of payment processing, all backers will receive an email with a Post-Campaign Survey (via BackerKit). Please kindly fill out the survey for shipping address and personalized options (colour of choices, case/lens mount, etc.)
In this survey, you will also be able to add-on other accessories/bundles if you want before checking out. All products will have a backer exclusive discount so don't miss out!
Shipping cost will be added in Backerkit after you confirm your shipping address. We will be using international express shipping with estimated cost of around $20-40 USD depending on your location. You may change your address up to a month prior to the shipping date. Since COVID-19 has impacted global shipping, the costs are still fluctuating at the moment. We are seeing a trend that shipping cost may decline by the time we ship out your ProGrip, so we will be able to provide a much better estimate closer to the shipping date. Please bear with us while we sort out the logistics.
*Pleasenote that you will have until end of September to complete the survey before we lock your orders. Afterwards if you need to make any changes you will have to reach out to us directly through email.
Fulfillment
After your order is locked we will start to fulfill your orders in a few months time. You will receive a notification along with a tracking number after your products have been shipped. We hope you will love ProGrip like we do and please feel free to reach out anytime if you have any questions.
